Remote Learning Days

rEMOTE Access on zOOM (IPADS/chROMEBOOKS)
Click on the PDF attachment below to see how to use remote control access on your child's iPad. This is a feature of Zoom that allows your child to 'take control' of the screen and participate in hands-on interactive activities during remote learning opportunities (e.g. Boom Learning Cards, ABCya games, etc.)

classroom THEMEs/ UNITS
Weekly themes will be embedded into a variety of our activities including morning circle/calendar, crafts and group lessons. Assigned weekly themes will be posted on our 'Welcome/Home Page'.
Seesaw

Seesaw is a digital portfolio that allows students to share work, complete activities and interact with peers. Teachers can also communicate with students and families via Seesaw. You can visit the Clever app in order to access SeeSaw.

Epic Reading
|
This is an online subscription based reading and learning platform. It offers students access to books (written, visual and/or auditory) and videos for children's ages 12 and under. Book themes range from fantasy to non-fiction. Texts can include comprehension quizzes from the website or individualized for the student and produced by the teacher. Teachers can monitor how often students are reading and their scores on any comprehension exams.

School Wide Reading Program
This reading program is being utilized within the general education classrooms in District #25. This program was developed to enhance the skills, strategies and tools the students can refer to in order to make meaning of text. Within this program, there are opportunities to read to students (mentor texts), to read with students (shared texts) and to have students read independently.

Literacy Footprints
Literacy Footprints is a complete guided reading system. Literacy Footprints features leveled readers, unique teaching tools, and guided reading lesson plans integrated with reading, writing and phonics.

News 2 You/Unique
News2You is a part of the Unique Learning System, which is a comprehensive curriculum for students with specialized needs. It is an online 'newspaper' that connects the classroom to real world events. With News2You students learn about current events through symbol-supported articles, activities, games and worksheets.

bOOM lEARNING

This is an an online interactive paperless platform where students can work on building their academic, speech based and other functional skills by completing digital activities called 'Boom decks'. 'Boom decks' can be individualized and are very engaging! They include visuals, audio and immediate performance (self-grading) feedback. The students can build on their fine motor and visual performance skills while completing Boom decks as they are required to move and manipulate items on the screen using a mouse, keyboard and/or touch screen device. Teachers can monitor how often students are accessing the Boom Learning site, what activities they have completed and their progress on those activities.

Reading Milestones
Reading Milestones is an alternative language controlled program that is designed to take readers to approximately a 5th grade reading level. It is especially effective for students with language delays.

Handwriting without tears & Kick Start Kindergarten
Handwriting Without Tears (HWT) is a multi-sensory approach to teach K-5 writing. The HWT program targets to incorporate fun, engaging and developmentally appropriate techniques into practice.

Learning a-z rAZKIDS/RAZPLUS

This program provides comprehensive leveled reading resources for students. Students can access leveled texts through an interactive learning portal designed to keep them motivated as well as engaged. Students can read texts, hear them being read aloud as well as answer comprehension questions.

Edmark Reading Program
The Edmark Reading Program uses 200 words from the Dolch sight words list and includes strategies to increase visual memory of words through repetition (left to right reading and tracking of print) and reading comprehension (practice of words, phrases and stories).
Touch Math
Touch Math uses a multi-sensory approach designed for auditory, visual and tactile learners. Students see, say, hear and touch using Touch Point numerals. They learn faster because they access the information through several learning channels. Numerals 1-5 have single touch points and numerals 6-9 have double touch points.

Connecting Math
This program is leveled instruction designed to accelerate the math learning performance of students. The program provides highly explicit and systematic instruction in a wide range of content specified in the Common Core State Standards for mathematics. Concepts are weaved together throughout each lesson.

Me Moves
MeMoves is a tool for self-regulation that helps calm and focus the nervous system. It is a combination of music, movement and images.
GoNoodle

GoNoodle is a series of web based videos, games and activities focused on introducing short bursts of physical exercise in the classroom. These movement and mindfulness activities allow students to burn built up energy in order for them to better concentrate and learn.

RULEr Approach
Zone oF rEGULATION
The zones is a systematic, cognitive behavior approach used to teach self-regulation by categorizing all the different ways we feel and state alertness into four concrete zones. The zones curriculum teaches students to become more aware of and independent in controlling their emotions and impulses, managing their sensory needs and improving their ability to problem solve conflicts.

Social Story: HERE
Red Zone: Describes heightened states of alertness and intense emotions. Emotions: Anger, rage, frustration, explosive behaviors, devastation and/or terror.
Yellow Zone: Heightened state of alertness and elevated emotions, however a student has more control. Emotions: Stress, anxiety, excitement, silliness (e.g. wiggles) and/or nervousness.
Green Zone: Calm state of alertness. This is the zone where optimal learning occurs. Emotions: Happy, focused, content or ready to learn.
Blue Zone: Low states of alertness and down feelings. Emotions: Sad, tired, sick or bored.

A multi-sensory/multi-functional tactile tool designed to improve oral and written language and expression.

CORE Vocabulary
75-80% (sometimes up to 95%) of the words that we use are considered 'CORE' vocabulary. 20% or less of of our language is considered fringe (e.g. nouns). CORE vocabulary is a small set (more than 100 words) of simple words in any language that are used frequently and across contexts. CORE vocabulary contains all parts of speech-nouns, pronouns, verbs, adjectives, adverbs, prepositions, conjunctions and interjections. These words serve as a great medium for teaching language. Examples of CORE words include, but are not limited to: want, go, eat, not and see.
